The Good Friday this year was special for those who were in Sao Paulo and are fans of Chico Science: The band Mundo Livre S.A made a memorable concert at Itaú Cultural, on Paulista Avenue, the financial center of the city.
The group presentation complemented the exhibition “Chico Science Occupation“, made in homage to the musician Chico Science who died in a car crash in 1997. Leading the Nação Zumbi (as vocalist), Chico was one of the precursors of the Mangue Beat movement, which mixes music, performing arts and local culture, making protest/vindication against the plagues plaguing Pernambuco, the home state of the artists.
With only a free presentation forecasted on Friday and another on Saturday in a room for 200 people, the event organizers were surprised by a queue of about a thousand people. However, in deference to the fans, the musicians agreed to do three concerts that night, playing about one hour in each.
Mundo Livre SA consists of Fred 04 (vocals, mandolin and guitar), Sand (bass), Tony Montenegro (drums and backing vocals), Tom Rocha (percussion and samplers) and Leonardo Silva (keyboards).
For those who do not know them, try out! Certainly you will not regret it.
